A historic fixture between two of the ten founder members of the Spanish Liga, which sees the parakeets entertain Valencia, a side that has appeared in two Champions League finals and won La Liga twice this century. Aside from the visits of Real Madrid and Barça, this is probably the most difficult home fixture Espanyol will face all season. Historic encounters between the sides in the past include one in 1967 when Espanyol were leading 4-1 and ended up losing 4-5, the home side’s biggest ever win in this fixture, 5-0 in 1995, and the very last game at Espanyol’s old Sarria stadium in 1997, which the visitors won 3-2.
