Barcelona’s domestic basketball season has got off to a dreadful start, so it was refreshing to see that Dusko Ivanovic’s side finally showed signs that things are starting to gel as they rarely looked troubled in thrashing Catalan rivals Gerona 94-67 to go fifth in the table with a 3-3 record.
And things got off to a positive start in the Euroleague with a 66-72 win at French club Pau Orthez in their opening game, with Benetton Treviso of Italy having provided the opposition in game two on Thursday night.
Following a road game at Kaunas, it will be back to the Palau for game
four on Thursday 16. The opponents are Napoli, appearing in the tournament for the first time, although after an impressive showing in the Italian Lega last season, they are evidently not a side to be taken lightly.
Before that Barga have a crunch domestic tie against joint leaders Tau of Vitoria. The Basques, who made the Euroleague Final Four last season, are currently 6-0. Barga play at the Palau Blaugrana, which is part of the Camp Nou complex, located next to the football club’s museum and shop. The cheapest tickets sell from around 20 euros.
